About Us

Like many Americans, fishing is something I grew up doing. Some of my earliest memories involve myself and my cousins catching fish at various campgrounds Michigan has to offer. While things may have changed over the years, one thing that will always remain the same is my passion for the sport. I eventually joined the Air Force and served for nine years, which led my fishing adventures to span across Mississippi, North Dakota, Alaska, New Jersey, Florida, and finally back to Michigan.

I had never tried carp fishing before, and as any Michigander will tell you, they aren't highly regarded in these parts. I’ve caught halibut the size of men, salmon the size of children and bass anyone would love to have as a trophy hanging on their wall. I considered myself too cool to be a carp fisherman; however, one day while fishing in my backyard, a small carp took the Trout Magnet I was using to catch crappie. From that moment on, I was the one that was hooked. These fish fight like freshwater tuna and by that, I mean they would rather cook themselves alive, die fighting to the bitter end than to be caught by you. They are hands-down one of the hardest fighting freshwater fish; they do not quit and if you show up on light tackle you are in for the fight of your life. As they say in some circles, "The tug is the drug" and I fell in love with the raw power of these fish and the relentless runs they make. I tried several store-bought baits and was disappointed with each one. That's when I embarked on a mission to create the perfect bait to land a monster on Briggs Lake, and thus, the dream of Michigan Magic was born.

Fishing is my passion, and I understand it's yours too. Whether you're seeking a hard-earned getaway, spending time with friends, or making memories with your children, I know these are some of the most important moments we can have. So, I thank you for placing your trust in Michigan Magic, and ultimately, in me. Michigan Magic is a family business, and we are committed to bringing families together through fishing.
